Turtles Forever: Dimentions Zu by E-Mann Turtles Forever: Dimentions Zu by E-Mann
For the point in turtles forever where we show different TMNT Dimensions we used existing artwork and new pieces created specifically for the sequence.

This image was originally drawn by Michael Zulli in Soul's Winter. There were a lot of edits done to this piece to make it ready for TV. all the word bobbles, dead Ninjas, gore was removed from.
When painting this I tried to make it look similar to the original covers Zulli did for the series. If he ever gets to see this version I hope he likes what I did ;p

I always wonder why Michael Zulli drew the turtles differently & how will I be able to tell if which is which?

I honestly wish the Bay turtles looked more like these guys; more reptilian and fierce!

Very beautiful as it is almost disgusting...sorry if that sounds offensive but this artwork is stunning, the effect and coloring of the snow and lighting and poses is wonderful but I haven't seen the turtles like this and they appear more gruesome and dark, so it is interesting. Lovely work

I really liked turtles forever. It reminded me why I liked ninja turtles so much. And I had no idea about the comic book. I'm so glad that was added in. I love seeing the origins of my favorite fandoms!

Why do they look like monsters? And also they all have the same weapon? Didn't each turtle have a signature weapon and a colored bandanna/mask? I guess you took some liberties huh? Though I suppose in your version they don't abuse puns and eat too much pizza either.

You might be surprised to hear the turtles didn't start out with different colored bandanas either.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a really big and interesting franchise. There's also a lot of things people assume are important parts of it(the different colored bandannas, April being a reporter and always wearing a jumpsuit, eating pizza, making jokes, Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang) that were in fact, all made up by the 1987 series which overshadowed the original indie comics were they started.

And non-lethal weapon attacks right? The weapons they carry are normally very dangerous. even sai are lethal in the hands of someone who knows where pressure points are. Ninjas normally do. A ninja can kill unarmed. they don't need weapons.

Well yes. But the weird thing is, while they were being trained from birth to kill someone(the Shredder, who was only in the first issue), after they did they never killed anyone again. So really they were only called ninjas just because. A lot of people will tell you that the original comics were dark and serious, but really, it was pretty silly in it's own right. It's just that, compared to the first cartoon series, it was practically a Christopher Nolan movie(but then, most things are)

Are there any copies of the original comics? Scans? It would be interesting to see what they were like.

Well IDW has been releasing collections of them a while ago, but other than that I have no clue where you could buy them. I found the ones I read through...less than legal methods.

Oh and forgot to mention this but the original TMNT look nothing like the ones in the drawing we're commenting on. That was a non-canon story made by a guy who was filling in for Eastman and Laird(the creators and artists of the comics) when they were away.

I did not draw this image I just colored it for the turtle Forever Movie. This image was originally drawn by Michael Zulli It's from a TMNT comic Soul's Winter. [link]

throughout the years there has been a lot of different incarnation of turtles this is just Zulli's vision of them.

I guess I haven't been paying attention. This would be a version I'm not a fan of. Looks good though. You did a good job with the coloring. I'm trying to learn how to color line art so when I see something like this I can really appreciate the detail you put into it.

Very nice... :) I've never had the chance to get my hands on this storyline, sadly, but I Love the way they are all drawn. it's into that realm of Realism that I enjoy so much. And Splinter's design is Very different.

Turtles Forever was an absolute joy to watch. Such a wonderful job you all did...
